My friends and I rented two canoes for the 6-mile trip down Paint Creek in early July, 2010. First of all, the owner, Max, was extremely nice and friendly. He was even kind enough to stop at a gas station on the way to the drop-off site so we could buy some water and snacks for the afternoon. There was a short walk to the water from where the van stops where you drag the canoes. The canoes were great! There were not metal (which proved VERY helpful later) and were easy to drag with 1-2 people. They also had seat-backs! The water was shallow and had a small current about half the time. There were several great stops along the way where we pulled over and had lunch, drank some water, and just looked around. I would definitely recommend Paint Creek Rental!
Oh, and some tips for this 6-mile trip:
-One gallon of water was more than enough for 3 people during the trip.
-If it’s sunny, you’ll have to reapply sun protecting lotion. (There’s not much shade.)
-Wear footwear that will protect you when walking on rocks in the water. (We bottomed-out twice in some shallow spots.)
